Gone Fishin'

After a great trip to AZ to see family and friends last week, Ammon took some time to sit back and enjoy the country life. He went fishing for the first time with mom, dad, and Uncle Collin.

Ammon kicking back in the shade before the fishing begins.

Father and son are ready to catch the big one.

Collin struck first, with a beautiful large mouth bass.

Ammon loved to touch the fish.

Ammon's strength and balance are rapidly improving. Look how stable and in control this boy is here.

(OK, I'll admit that I photoshopped my arm out of the picture.)

Here is a picture of Ammon and his cousins from their trip to AZ last week. It is fun to see them all grow up together.

I Wanna Be a Big Boy!

Ammon is growing up fast. He throws a fit if we don't strap him into the booster seat instead of the high chair. He spits everything we spoon him into his hand so he can feed himself. Ammon thinks he's a big boy until mom leaves the room and then he turns into a blubbering baby.
This kid is moving! He is dangerously quick, coordinated, and fearless. He will make you sorry you ever took your eyes off him. His falls and bumps have made mommy worry many, many times.

Ammon with his one big weakness...mommy!

This is Easter day at a friends house. Mommy says, "Ammon is tough enough to wear pink." Daddy responds with, "And if he's not... he's quick enough to get away."

We tried to get him to smile, but this is the only picture we could get without an egg in his mouth.

The Fast and the Furious.

Just get out of my way and nobody gets hurt.

And He's Off...

Ammon is off to the races and is crawling all over the place. Now that he has it figured out, we are sure that he will be getting into everything. Thank goodness our house is already child-proof.

He has become a real "mama's boy." He loves to play with daddy, but when the fun is done, he is reaching for mommy.

It has been a tough week for Ammon. On Wednesday, he had tubes put in his ears because of the many ear infections he has had. They had to keep grabbing bigger tubes to suck the fluid from his ears. We don't know who it was harder on...mommy or Ammon?

Creep'n and Almost Crawl'n

Ammon is "oh so close" to crawling. He gets up on all fours and rocks. He has slid himself forward a couple of times, but most of the time he ends up jumping like a frog to his target.
About three weeks ago Ammon gave us a very special gift...he slept completely through the night. Finally, after 8 months he finally did it and has done it several times since then. I think that having mommy and daddy home together has helped him get into a good schedule.
Ammon's first tooth popped up recently and the second is about to come through. He is really good at chopping his Cheerios with his little tooth. Plus, his smile is all the sweeter.
He is talking a lot now and I have heard him call for "mama" a few times. He loves to be heard and to talk to the other kids in Lona's daycare.

We know that he'll be crawling any day now, which will be exciting. However, it will be hard for us to see him become more independent.

We gave Ammon a bowl of mashed potatoes and let him go at it. Ammon is getting good at feeding himself and is currently attempting to use a spoon himself. In fact, he gets very mad if he is not allowed his own spoon or if you try to help him. We all know where that stubborness comes from.

We just love this polo shirt. It makes him look like our little man.

This is the smile that melts our hearts.

Now that the weather is nice, we are able to take Ammon out and enjoy our neighborhood park. He loves to be outside and mommy takes him for walks nearly every day.

Ammon loves to grab everything! He enjoys playing with his toys and does a good job sharing with others, even if they don't always want to share with him.

Mr. Independent

Ammon can't wait to grow up. He is constantly trying to copy us and the other children he sees. He wants to talk on the phone, to eat and drink by himself, and when he sees other kids walking around, his eyes fill with envy. He can sit up by himself and get up on all fours, but no crawling yet. Mommy and daddy are trying to slow him down because they think he is growing too fast. They want to enjoy their little baby while they can.
He misses his daddy who is at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, completing Air Force training and his daddy really misses him, too. Just three more weeks until the family is together and thankfully, Nathan has no more training to go to this year.

Ammon and Nathan ready for church the day before Nathan left to Alabama.

Ammon sitting all by himself and loving it.

Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like mine?

Ammon has been practicing his thumb-forefinger skills by grabbing the Cheerios. Next we will have him wax-on/wax-off the car.

Operation Cheerio was a success

Ammon with some friends from church. You can see by Ammon's face in this picture how much he likes being with the older boys. He really wants to grow up.

My First Christmas

It was a long 19 hour drive to AZ, a short 3 days in AZ, and a long 19 hour drive back to Kansas, but it was worth it. We enjoyed spending Ammon's first Christmas with our families and I'm sure Ammon enjoyed all of the love and attention from everyone we visited.

The King Family in front of the Christmas tree.

You've heard of Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen, but have you heard of the most famous reindeer of all...Ammon!

Ammon really enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere. He loved looking at the bright lights and colorful decorations.

After cashing in on presents, Ammon has a new best friend in Santa Claus.

Ammon was so excited about opening the gifts that he briefly was able to hold himself up so he could unwrap his present.

A long day of visiting with family, taking tons of pictures, and opening presents has worn out this little prince.

Back home in Kansas, playing with his Christmas duck.

Ammon and his Holiday Spirit

It is a precious thing to watch your child experience things for the first time. Even though he is too young to fully understand, you can still see the curiosity and wonderment in his face.
Ammon is about 15.5 lbs and a little over 25 inches. He must be going through a growth spurt as he is constantly hungry.
Even though we were apart from our families for Thanksgiving, it was still a very special time for us. We have so much to be thankful for...
We had a big snow a couple days ago and hit the 0 degree mark. Not too fun for us spoiled Arizonans. We are looking forward to visiting AZ during the holidays and experiencing a "Brown Christmas."

Here is Ammon experiencing his first Thanksgiving. Nathan was pretty disappointed that he only got through about two-thirds of his plate.

Ammon is finally big enough to sit in his play saucer and he is loving every minute of it.

Our first portrait family photo. We love the bow-tie and bare feet.

Me like food!!! (especially sweet potatoes)

Again with the cuddling...knock it off you two!

I don't know about you, but this kid is much cuter than Ole Saint Nick.
