Our Road Trip to Our New Home

Ammon had a hard time leaving so many of his good friends from the neighborhood and Lona's day care. Here is Ammon with his friend Gia, who lived down the street and also spent time in the day care.

Ammon and his friend Madison check out the pumpkins. Lona had taken her day care group to the pumpkin patch on her last day.
Ammon says, "Goodbye" to one of his best friends, Gabbi, and her mom, Nicole.

Ammon loads up on a banana in preparation of our long road trip to CT.

We stopped in Kansas City the first night and spent the next morning at Hallmark's Kaleidoscope child center. It is a cool place where kids can create all kinds of crafts.

One of the cool displays at Kaleidoscope. The device to the right is a video camera and in the middle box above, you can see Ammon's face.

Mommy loves this place even more than Ammon!

The next stop was St Louis, where we stayed with Nathan's cousin, Keoni and his family. In the morning, we hit the St Louis zoo. Here is Lona and Ammon in front of the hippo tank.

Ammon loves penguins. He demanded that we see them right away. Although you could literally reach out and touch the penguins, Ammon was only allowed to touch this fake one.
Lona and I got tired of walking, but for some reason, Ammon never got tired.
Ammon wasn't scared of the zoo Halloween graveyard...
...But he was scared of this crazy witch who tried to cook him.

Ammon and his cousin Sai Kauwe.

The next stop was in Dayton, OH, where we stayed with Nathan's former supervisor, Bryan Collins and his family. Ammon was not cooperating for pictures, so we only have this cute picture of Benjamin and Will, who Ammon calls 'Men and Baby Will.

The next day, we stopped at Hershey, PA and Ammon got a close-up look of one of his favorite things...chocolate.

Ammon got to be a factory worker and package some Hershey's Kisses.

He didn't care much for the factory worker hat, but we don't care what he wants. It's what looks best for the camera!
Nathan and Ammon take in the tour of how Hershey chocolate is made.
For Halloween, a member of our ward hosted a Trunk-or-Treat. Ammon was a dragon.

Ammon was a little scared of all the new people in scary costumes, so he needed mommy and daddy's help to get his loot.
After the Trunk-or-Treat, we went to a local neighborhood and Ammon went crazy running from house to house.

A family shot at a local park in Dayville, CT near our house.

Ammon had a great time with his Nana. Grandma and Grandpa King came to visit a week after we arrived to CT.
Ammon is always happy when he is with a Papa.

Lona and Nana King took Ammon to the Children's Museum in Providence, RI.
Ammon loved all of the hands-on displays. Finally, a place where mommy and daddy aren't yelling at him to not touch.

We took a trip to Newport to do the Cliff Walk along the beach and the Newport mansions. Ammon loved the beach. He would run up to the tide when it was out and throw handfuls of sand. Then he would run away as the tide came in.

Connecticut Bound!

It's official...we will be living in Connecticut. The town where we will be living is just a few miles from the Rhode Island border and not too far of a commute for Nathan to the Air National Guard base at Quonset Airport. We are sad to leave Kansas and the friends that we have made, but we are excited for our new adventure. Nathan will be moving into the house at the end of October and begin his new job on November 1st. Lona is hoping to start a preschool from the home and has already begun researching the area.

On Labor Day, a family from the ward hosted a "Beach Party" from their river front property. They had a BBQ, swimming, paddle boats, and volleyball. Ammon and his friend Elijah had fun throwing the volley ball and swinging from the net.

Ammon enjoyed playing "at the beach" and riding in the paddle boats.

Ammon loved walking in the water with Daddy and making mommy nervous by trying to run into the water.

Ammon likes to wrestle just like his daddy. His pal Roman is one of his wrestling buddies.

There is little fear in this boy! He loves to be thrown into the air and the higher the better. He lets daddy know when he wants to fly by saying, "one, two, three" and pointing up to the sky.

Ammon is up to his old tricks again. This neighborhood girl, Gia, is one of his many girlfriends.

One of Ammon's favorite activities is feeding the ducks at one of the local parks in Derby. The ducks come running as soon as they see Ammon coming!

Ammon in AZ

Ammon enjoyed visiting Arizona, but we could have done without the 115 degree weather. If you ask me, living through the summers there is a lot like child birth. You tend to forget just how hot the summers can get, and staying indoors with an active little boy was out of the question. I do have many fond memories of living there and still think it's one of the greatest places! Ammon and I had a wondeful time visiting family and friends. As always we wished our time there was not so limited. Hopefully someday we'll be back to stay.

Ammon enjoyed swimming with his Grandma & Grandpa King, Aunt & Uncles, and cousins.

Here's a picture of Ammon with his cousins: Kendra, Kaili, and Kennedy. He was ready to play in this picture... NO MORE PICTURES PLEASE!

Who needs to ride horses... riding goats is twice the fun!

Ammon w/ his grandpa and cousin Jessie.

This is a picture of Ammon with his great grandfather... Ammon sure loves his papas!

Ammon's grandma knew how to entertain. He loved to ride on the "yellow bike," and kept trying to lead us back into the garage for more rides.

He also loves dog... and this is one BIG dog!

HMMM... Maybe pony rides are better!

Ammon enjoyed celebrating his 2nd birthday with friends and familyfrom Arizona.

Ammon's 2nd Birthday

Ammon celebrated his 2nd birthday with his friends from Kansas. It's hard to believe that our little boy is two year old. Where has the time gone?
Check out these cakes. I made them myself believe it or not... Seeing Ammon's face and hearing him talk about "eating his ball cakes" made the four hours of decorating worth every minute spent.
Ammon and his friends loved jumping in the bounce castle. He did have to sit in "time-out" though after he tackled two little girls to the ground and pounced on them.

Ammon returns to play after his two minutes in the time-out chair... It's my party and I can do what I want to!

Ammon received a sand box from mom and dad for his birthday. He loves playing in it.

Derby Days Celebration

We were finally able to attend the annual Derby Days celebration after missing it the past two years. Ammon spent the day watching shows, visiting clowns, and decorating cookies. He was worn out by the time we left.
Most children were afraid of the clown, but Ammon was eager to see him. He requested that he construct a balloon "dog". BIG SURPRISE! He even hugged him and said "thank you" afterwards. "Dah" in Ammon's language means "Thank you!" Ammon can be quite the little gentleman when he wants to be.

Ammon loved decorating the cookie with daddy, but seemed to enjoy the fruit of his labors even more. The cookies were quite tasty!

Ammon found himself right at home while visiting the petting zoo.
Ammon has already developed a love for fast cars. Check out this little hottie!

Ammon and another toad... We've received an enormous amount of rain this year. This rainy weather has brought us lots of humidity and tons of baby frogs. Ammon refers to them as "baby ribits." I'd prefer this over the snake we found slithering through the garden though... Uggh!
